AN ORDINANCE AMENDING
CHAPTER 2.40 OF THE LEMONY MUNICIPAL CODE
CREATING THE POSITION OF
POLICE DEPARTMENT ADMINISTRATOR
WHEREAS, the President and board of Trustees of the Village of Lemont, Counties of
Cook, Will and DuPage has the authority to adopt an Ordinance and to promulgate rules and
regulations that pertain to its government and affairs and protect the public health, safety, and
welfare of its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Village currently does not have a position of Police Department
Administrator; and
WHEREAS, the Village hereby finds that it is in the public interest to employ a Police
Department Administrator to assist the Chief of Police in the administration of the Police
Department and to perform such other duties as may be directed from time to time by the Chief of
Police.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF LEMONY, COUNTIES OF COOK, WILL, AND DU PAGE,
ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: The Corporate authorities hereby find that all of the recitals contained in the
preamble of this Ordinance are true, correct, complete, and are hereby incorporated into this
Ordinance by this reference.
Section 2: Chapter 2.40 of the Lemont Municipal Code shall be amended by adding the
following:
2.040.065 Police Department Administrator
There is hereby established the position of Police Department Administrator.
The Police Department Administrator shall be appointed by the Chief of
Police and may be removed from office in accordance with the personnel
manual. The compensation of the Police department Administrator shall be
determined from time to time by the Board of Trustees. The Police Department
Administrator shall assist the Chief of Police in the administration of the Police
Department and shall perform such duties as may be prescribed by the Village
Administrator from time to time.
Section 3: In the event that any provision or provisions, or portion or portions of this
Ordinance shall be declared to be invalid or unenforceable by a Court of competent jurisdiction,
such adjudication shall in no way affect or impair the validity or enforceability of any of the
remaining provisions or portions of this Ordinance that may be given effect without such invalid or
unenforceable provision or provisions, portion or portions.
Section 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage,
approval and publication in the manner provided by law.
Section 5: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith shall be and the same
are hereby repealed.
Section 6: The Village Clerk of the Village of Lemont shall certify to the adoption of this
ordinance and cause the same to be published in pamphlet form.

VILLAGE OF LEMONY, COUNTIES OF COOK, WILL AND DU-PAGE, ILLINOIS, ON THIS
