From the Desk of:

TO Mayor / Village Trustees
SUBJECT Ordnance Amending Chapter 2.44 of the Municipal Code of
Lemont entitled "Part Time Officers"
On January 1, 1996 Governor Edgar signed into law new training
requirements and certification for part time officers. State law 65 ILCS
5/3.1- 30 -21, states that a municipality shall by ordinance, establish hiring
and training standards for part time officers and shall submit those standards
to the Illinois Training Standards Board.
I have revised municipal code chapter 2.44 changing "Auxiliary" to "Part
Time" and updating hiring and training standards according to the law. I sent
the revision to John Antonopolous, Village Attorney, to have him review the
chapter. He also created an ordinance entitled "Part Time Police Officer ",
amending the old ordinance entitled "Auxiliary ".
I have enclosed the ordinance and a copy of the State law. Please
review this ordinance, and I will be happy to answer any questions at the
Committee Of The Whole Meeting or anytime you may have a question. Thank you
for your consideration
