R-351-95 Accepting a dedication of a Corridor 20 feet in width within East Boundary of the Toll Highwat right-of-way between New Ave and 135St and reserve the corridor for future Development as a Regional BikewayVILLAGE OF LEMONT RESOLUTION NO. 351 DATE OF APPROVAL 2/27/95 WHEREAS, the State of Illinois has authorized the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority (ISTHA) to develop a 12.5 mile extension of the North -South Tollway (I -355) from I -55 to I -80; and WHEREAS, the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority have made a commitment to reserve land within the North -South Tollway extension for future development as a regional bikeway; and WHEREAS, the Northeastern Illinois Regional Greenways Plan developed by the Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission and the Open Lands Project identifies the I -355 corridor as a proposed greenway; and WHEREAS, the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority have expressed a willingness to convey the easterly twenty (20) feet of the planned toll highway right -of -way, from New Avenue to 135th Street, to the Village of Lemont; and WHEREAS, the Village of Lemont supports continuing, cooperative efforts to plan and develop a regional bikeway in the I -355 Corridor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF LEMONT, COUNTIES OF COOK, DuPAGE AND WILL, THAT: The Village of Lemont is willing to accept a dedication of a corridor twenty feet in width within the east boundary of the toll highway right -of -way between New Avenue and 135th Street and reserve that corridor for future development as a regional bikeway.
