AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS
VIII -C TO VIII -F AND IX -C TO IX -F OF THE
LEMONT ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 426 PERTAINING TO
MONUMENT AND GROUND SIGNS IN ALL BUSINESS
AND MANUFACTURING DISTRICTS
BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Lemont that Ordinance No. 426 known as The Lemont Zoning
Ordinance is hereby amended to provide the following:
SECTION 1. That Section VIII -C -5 -c pertaining to the B -1
Neighborhood Shopping District is hereby deleted.
SECTION 2. That a new Section VIII -C -5 -c of the Lemont Zoning
Ordinance No. 426 is hereby adopted and inserted in words and
figures as follows:
The gross allowable surface area in square feet of all signs
on a lot shall be calculated at 1 square foot of signage for each
lineal foot of frontage along the front lot line. The maximum
square footage for any monument or ground- mounted sign shall be 100
square feet. On a corner or through lot, each lot adjoining a
street shall be considered a separate front lot line.
SECTION 3. That the following sentence of Section VIII- C -5 -f.
pertaining to the B -1 Neighborhood Shopping District: "A ground
sign shall not project higher than 30 feet above the grade below
it" is hereby amended to read "A ground sign shall not project
higher than 15 feet above the grade below it."
SECTION 4. That a new Section VIII -C -5 -h of the Lemont Zoning
Ordinance No. 426 is hereby adopted and inserted in words and
figures as follows:
Minimum setback for monument and ground- mounted signs shall be
greater than or equal to the height of the sign.
SECTION 5. That Section VIII -D -6 -b pertaining to the B -2
Central Shopping District is hereby deleted.
SECTION 6. That a new Section VIII -D -6 -b of the Lemont Zoning
Ordinance No. 426 is hereby adopted and inserted in words and
figures as follows:
The gross allowable surface area in square feet of all signs
on a lot shall be calculated at 1 square foot of signage for each
lineal foot of frontage along the front lot line. The maximum
square footage for any monument or ground- mounted sign shall be 100
square feet. On a corner or through lot, each lot adjoining a
street shall be considered a separate front lot line.
SECTION 7. That the following sentence of Section VIII -D -6 -e
pertaining to the B -2 Central Shopping District: "A ground sign
shall not project higher than 30 feet above the grade below it" is
hereby amended to read "A ground sign shall not project higher than
15 feet above the grade below it."
SECTION 8. That a new Section VIII -D -6 -h of the Lemont Zoning
Ordinance No. 426 is hereby adopted and inserted in words and
figures as follows:

SECTION 9. That Section VIII -E -7 pertaining to the B -3
Commercial District is hereby deleted.
SECTION 10. That a new Section VIII -E -7 -a of the Lemont Zoning
Ordinance No. 426 is hereby adopted and inserted in words and
figures as follows:

Mineral Extraction District is hereby deleted.
SECTION 33. That a new Section IX -F -5 -c of the Lemont Zoning
Ordinance No. 426 is hereby adopted and inserted in words and
figures as follows:

SECTION 36. That a new Section IX -F -5 -e is hereby adopted and
inserted in words and figures as follows:
Minimum setback for monument and ground- mounted signs
shall be greater than or equal to the height of the sign.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage, approval and publication in the manner provided
by law.
The Village Clerk of the Village of Lemont shall certify to
the adoption of this Ordinance and cause the same to be published
in pamphlet form.
