ORDINANCE NO. 797 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING MAP OF THE VILLAGE OF LEMONT FOR APPROXIMATELY 320 ACRES OWNED BY THE METROPOLITAN WATER RECLAMATION DISTRICT OF GREATER CHICAGO FROM M -3 MANUFACTURING DISTRICT TO 8-4 COMMERCIAL - RECREATIONAL DISTRICT WHEREAS, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, hereinafter referred to as "the Petitioner ", is the owner of approximately 320 acres, hereinafter referred to as "the subject property ", generally located between the Sanitary & Ship Canal and the Illinois & Michigan Canal, from the Consumer's Quarry to Route 83 and legally described in Exhibit "A "; and WHEREAS, the Plan Commission of the Village of Lemont, Illinois, in accordance with the Lemont Zoning Ordinance, conducted a Public Hearing on July 6, 1993, for a zoning map amendment; and WHEREAS, notice of the aforesaid Public Hearing was made in the manner provided by law and was published in the Lemont Metropolitan, a newspaper of general circulation within the Village; and WHEREAS, an ad hoc Citizen's Task Force appointed to study the MWRD site delivered a report with 16 recommendations on the future of the area; and WHEREAS, the Plan Commission reviewed and endorsed the Task Force recommendation at its September 1, 1992 meeting; and WHEREAS, the proposed zoning map amendment is generally consistent with the Village Comprehensive Plan and long -term recommendations to reserve the quarry area for commercial - recreational and open space uses; and WHEREAS, the Lemont Plan Commission has recommended the amendment of the Lemont Zoning Map from M -3 Manufacturing to Village of Lemont B -4 Commercial /Recreational District; and WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village have determined that the best interest of the Village will be served by the adoption of the Plan Commission recommendation specified below regarding the subject property; and WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village approve the amendment of the Lemont Zoning Map for the subject property pursuant to Ill.Rev.Stat.Ch.24, 11- 13 -14. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF LEMONT, COUNTIES OF COOK, DU PAGE, AND WILL, ILLINOIS: THAT THE LEMONT ZONING MAP IS HEREBY AMENDED FROM M -3 MANUFACTURING TO B -4 COMMERCIAL - RECREATIONAL DISTRICT FOR THOSE TERRITORIES LEGALLY DESCRIBED IN EXHIBIT "A ".
