A RESOLUTION OF OBJECTION FOR THE RECORD OF THE COOK COUNTY
ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS REGARDING A REQUEST FOR SPECIAL USE
FOR A UNIQUE USE TO PERMIT THE OPERATION OF A LAWN &
SNOW SERVICE WITH LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE SERVICES IN
AN R -4 SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT AT 15871 135TH STREET
WHEREAS, The Village of Lemont is a zoned munici
property which is the subject of a request for a rezoning in the

COMMONLY KNOWN AS 15871 135th Street; and
WHEREAS, the entire boundary of the subject property is within 11/2 miles of the corporate
limits of the Village of Lemont; and
WHEREAS, the existing Cook County R -4 Single Family Residence District allows for low
density, single family homes on lots sizes a minimum of 1/2 acre or 1 acre if on well and septic systems;
and
WHEREAS, the area around the subject property is generally developed or is developing with
single family residences on 1 acre lots; and
WHEREAS, the proposed special use would allow a significantly more intensive use than
allowed as a permitted use in a single family residence district; and
WHEREAS, the use would cause a considerable increase in the amount of truck and
automobile traffic into the single family neighborhood via a long narrow driveway which would be
located near and used by other single family residences, thus endangering the public health, safety and
welfare; and
WHEREAS, the proposed storage and maintenance of trucks in this area as well as the start-
up of equipment in the early morning hours would be injurious to the use and enjoyment of property
in the immediate vicinity for the single family residences and would cause a negative impact on the
value of surrounding homes; and
WHEREAS, the special use would substantially alter the character of the neighborhood by
introducing commercial/industrial uses into the center of a single family neighborhood.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Lemont, Counties of Cook, DuPage and Will, State of Illinois, that the Village of Lemont
hereby objects to the request for a special use for a unique use for the operation of lawn and snow
services with landscape architectural services in an R -4 Single Family Residence District, which is the
subject of Cook County Zoning Board of Appeals Docket Number 6718.

VILLAGE OF LEMONT, COUNTIES OF COOK, WILL AND DuPAGE, ILLINOIS, on this
