(� ` oc 0- O y AN ORDINANCE AMENDING LEMONT MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 13.08: WATER METERS & RATES ADOPTED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF LEMONT This 14th day of June , 2004 Published in pamphlet form by authority of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Lemont, Counties of Cook, Will, and DuPage, Illinois this 14th day of June , 2004 ORDINANCE D - a-0Y" ORDINANCE AMENDING THE LEMONT MUNICIPAL CODE TO AMEND THE RATES CHARGED FOR SENIOR CITIZEN WATER USAGE WHEREAS, the Village has determined it is necessary to implement an increase in water rates which will occur on October 1, 2004; and WHEREAS, the Village recognizes that many senior citizens are living on limited fixed - incomes; WHEREAS, though the cost of water usage may have grown at a reasonable rate, it would be a welcome benefit to senior citizens for the Village to provide them with a discount; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Lemont that: SECTION 1: Chapter 13.08.070 of the Lemont Municipal Code entitled "Billing of charges — Senior citizen discounts" is hereby repealed and replaced as follows: A. Bills for water used shall be sent out every two months. B. All bills for water used shall be in the name of the owner, tenant or occupant of the building or unit. C. The net amount of all water bills is due and payable in full upon receipt of such bill. Any bill paid after the twentieth day of the billing month will have a ten - percent late charge added to the bill amount. D. There shall be a senior citizen discount at a fixed rate of twelve dollars and ten cents ($12.10) minimum charge, plus three dollars and three cents ($3.03) per one thousand gallons for each one thousand gallons in excess of four thousand gallons. The discount is only applicable to the dwelling unit in which the senior citizen resides. To obtain the discount, the senior citizen must present to the village proof of the following: 1. His or her age, being sixty -five or older; 2. Ownership and residency of the property; or 3. Proof of residency, including rental agreement in individually metered rental unit; SECTION 2: Repealer: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith shall be and the same are hereby repealed. The Village Clerk of the Village of Lemont shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and cause the same to be published in pamphlet form.
