O-45-04 08/09/04VILLAGE OF LEMONT ORDINANCED — �%S' 62 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 15.06, "SINGLE FAMILY BUILDING CODE" OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF LEMONT ADOPTED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF LEMONT This 94 day of 64Art4 , 2004 Published in pamphlet form by authority of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Lemont, Counties of Cook, Will and DuPage, Illinois this 9' day of , 2004. 1 of 3 ORDINANCE el ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 15.06, "SINGLE FAMILY BUILDING CODE" OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF LEMONT BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Lemont that CHAPTER 15.06, "SINGLE FAMILY BUILDING CODE" OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF LEMONT shall be amended as follows: The following sections shall be added: Chapter 15.06.020 Amendments to Code Section R315.1 Handrails to read: Handrails having minimum and maximum heights of 34 inches and 38 inches (864 mm and 965 mm), respectively, measured vertically from the nosing of the treads shall be provided on at least one side of the stairways. All required handrails shall be continuous the full length of the stairs with three or more risers from a point directly above the top riser of a flight to a point directly above the lowest riser of the flight. Ends shall be returned or shall terminate in newel posts or safety terminals. Handrails adjacent to a wall shall have a space of not less than 1.5 inches (38 mm) between the wall and the handrail. Section R316.1 Guards required to read: Porches, balconies or raised floor surfaces located more than 30 inches (762 mm) above the floor or grade below shall have guards not less than 36 inches (914 mm) in height. Open sides of stairs with a total rise of more than 30 inches (762 mm) above the floor or grade below shall have hand /guardrails not less than 36 inches (914 mm) and not greater than 38 inches (965 mm) in height measured vertically from the nosing of the treads. (On this type of stair the guardrail and handrail may be considered one.) This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in the manner provided by law. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith shall be and the same are hereby repealed. The Village Clerk of the Village of Lemont shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and cause the same to be published in pamphlet form.
