AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2.04 OF THE LEMONT MUNICIPAL CODE.
ENTITLED: "VILLAGE PRESIDENT ", SECTION 2.04.060 ENTITLED:
"INAUGURATION OF NEWLY ELECTED MUNICIPAL OFFICIALS"
BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Lemont that
Chapter 2.04 of the Lemont Municipal Code entitled: Village President, Section 2.04.060, entitled:
Inauguration of Newly Elected Municipal Officials shall be amended as follows:
Section 2.04.060 Inauguration of Newly Elected Municipal Officials
The inauguration of newly elected municipal officials shall take place at the first regular or
special meeting of the corporate authorities during the month of April following the proclamation
of the results of the regular municipal election at which the officers were elected. except as
otherwise provided by ordinance fixing the date for inauguration of newly elected officers. The
ordinance shall not, however, fix the time for inauguration of newly - elected officers later than the
first regular or special meeting of the corporate authorities in the month of May following the
election.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and
publication in the manner provided by law.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith shall be and the same are hereby
repealed.
The Village Clerk of the Village of Lemont shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and
cause the same to be published in pamphlet form.

2.04.010 Election and term of
office.
The village president shall be elected for
a term of four years, and he shall be the
president of the board of trustees, as is
provided by statute. (Prior code § 1.001)
2.04.020 Bond —Oath of office —
Compensation.
Before entering upon the duties of his or
her office, the president shall give a bond,
with sureties to be approved by the board of
trustees, conditioned upon his or her faithful
performance of his or her duties in the sum
of three thousand dollars. The president
shall take the oath of office as prescribed by
statute, and shall receive an annual compen-
sation of four thousand eight hundred dol-
lars per year, payable in quarterly install-

2.04.030 Powers and duties.
The village president shall be the chief
executive officer of the village, and he shall

perform all such duties as may be required
of him by statute or ordinance. He shall
have supervision over all the executive
officers of the village, and over all the
employees of the village. He shall have the
power and authority to inspect all books and
records kept by any village officer or em-
ployee at any reasonable time. (Prior code
§ 1.002)
2.04.040 Delegation and designation
of duties.
Whenever there is a question as to the
respective powers or duties of any appoint-
ed officer of the village, this shall be settled
by the president, and he shall have the
power to delegate to any such officer any
duty which is to be performed when no
specific officer has been directed to perform
the duty. (Prior code § 1.003)
2.04.050 President pro tem.
During the temporary absence or disabili-
ty of the village president, the board of
trustees shall elect one of its number to act
as president pro tem, who, during the ab-
sence or disability of the president, shall
perform the duties pertaining to the office.

2.04.060 Inauguration of newly
elected municipal officials.
The inauguration of newly elected munic-
ipal officials shall take place during the first
regular or special meeting of the corporate
authorities during the month of May
following an election. (Ord. 780, 1993)
