and
WHEREAS, the the Village of Lemont has worked with the Lemont- Bromberek School
District 113a and the Lemont Park District in the formulation of a Safe - Routes -to- School Travel Plan

community, promote wellness through physically activities and reduce pollution through reduced
emissions by promoting walking and biking in and through town; and,
WHEREAS, based on the study and analysis as part of the development of the School
Travel Plan, the joint committee developed and agreed to improve programs and infrastructure to
promote and enable the principles of the Safe Route to School Program; and,
WHEREAS, the committee recommended and prioritized the specific projects needed to
be completed in the near term and which need financial assistance to complete; and,
WHEREAS, it was determined that a pedestrian/bicycle bridge across 127h Street in
Lemont was the most pressing need due to the aforementioned opening of the tollway interchange

increased traffic; and,
WHEREAS, the installation of a pedestrian/bicycle bridge will serve the needs of both Old

necessary to see this project to completion.
