RE: Proposed Vacation of 127"' Street from Smith Road West to New Avenue
and Vacation of a Portion of High Road from 127th Street South to the
Quarter Section Line
Dear Mr. McHale:
The Village of Lemont would like to express its strong objection to the proposed vacation
of the portions of 1275h Street and High Road.
With the completion of the I -355 Extension, planned to open on November 11, the
vacation of 127th Street would remove a vital link between the interchange at 127th Street
and New Avenue for both truck and vehicular traffic. The improvements underway by
Cook County to the east portion of the 127° Street would make this ability to connect even
more desirable. This route would be critical to emergency vehicles responding to
accidents and injuries on the 1 -355 Tollway extension.
High Road is basically a residential thoroughfare parallel to New Avenue. Its vacation
would deprive property owners and the general public from efficient accessibility to
properties along High Road, and an alternate route to New Avenue in the event of an
emergency on New Avenue.
The Village of Lemont intends to approve a formal Resolution of Objection at the Village
Board meeting on November 5. We respectfully request that these comments and
objections be placed into the record of the public hearing to be held on November 3.
Sincerely,
Jo

127th Street & High Road
In response to your letter received on October 19, 2007, be advised the Will
County Highway Department does not agree with your proposed vacation of 127th Street
and High Road. 127th Street and High Road have been public roads for many many years
and are used not only by residents of the area but also the general public. Your proposed
vacation would affect the traffic pattern that the public is accustomed too. It should be
noted that 127th Street will be a major east west corridor in the near future with the
improvement that was done by the Cook County Highway Department to the east.
Therefore the right of way should be preserved for future development. In addition this
route is critical for emergency vehicles.
If there are any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

Re: 127th Street and High Road, DuPage Township
Dear Mr, McHale;
Regarding the proposed vacation of 127th Street from Smith Road west to New Road and a
portion of High Road from 127th Street south to the Quarter Section, be advised the Lemont
Township Highway Department does not agree with the vacation. These have been public
roads for many years and are used by residents and the general public and most importantly
serve as a route for emergency vehicles. With the opening of the Veteran Memorial Highway
and the improvements to the east, 127th Street will be an important access road. The vacation
of this area would cause a negative impact on the traffic flow of this part or our community.
Sincerely,
Sigitas P. Vaznelis, P.E.
Lemont Township Highway Commissioner
