AN ORDINANCE REZONING PROPOERTIES ALONG STATE STREET AND
IN THE AREA OF SHORT STREET AND EAST STREET FROM R -6 MULTI-
FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT TO R -4A SINGLE - FAMILY
PRESERVATION AND INFILL DISTRICT IN LEMONT, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the Village of Lemont Comprehensive Plan of 2002 recommends the
downzoning of "exisiting R -6 multi - family districts to R -4 single- family residential
where such districts actually contain single - family dwellings"; and
WHEREAS, the residents of East Street and Lintz Street formally requested the
Village of Lemont ( "the Village ") rezone property on the west side of East Street from
multi - family to single - family zoning; and
WHEREAS, the Community Development Department researched, evaluated,
and recommended the rezoning properties along State Street and in the area of East Street
and Short Street from R -6 to R -4A; and
WHEREAS, these properties recommended for rezoning are attached and
described in Exhibit "A "; and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission of the Village, in accordance
with State Statute and the Village's Zoning Ordinance, conducted a public hearing on
rezoning of the properties along State Street and in the area of East Street and Short
Street; and
WHEREAS, a notice of the aforesaid public hearing was made in the manner
provided by law and was published in the Daily Southtown, a newspaper of general
circulation within the Village;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of
the Village of Lemont, that the Zoning Map of the Village of Lemont is hereby amended
to rezone the properties as listed and described in Exhibit "A" from R -6 Multi - Family
Residential District to R -4A Single - Family Preservation and Infill District.
