VILLAGE BOARD MEETING
August 24, 2009
The regular meeting of the Lemont Village Board was held on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 7:00
p.m., President Brian Reaves presiding. Roll call: Chialdikas, Miklos, Sniegowski, Stapleton, Virgilio;
present.
III. CONSENT AGENDA
Motion by Miklos, seconded by Chialdikas, to approve the following items on the consent agenda
by omnibus vote:
A. Approval of Minutes
B. Approval of Disbursements
C. R-49-09 -Resolution Authorizing Letter of Credit Reduction for Covington Knolls
Unit 1.
D. 0-57-09 -Ordinance Amending Lemont Municipal Code Chapter 5.04 of the Lemont
Municipal Code: Alcoholic Beverages.
Roll call: Chialdikas, Miklos, Sniegowski, Stapleton, Virgilio; ayes. Motion passed.
Trustee Blatzer arrived at 7:03 p.m.
IV. MAYOR'S REPORT
Motion by Miklos, seconded by Stapleton, to approve a Proclamation honoring Cpl. Heath "Beaver"
Parvis, LJSMC. Voice vote: 6 ayes. Motion passed.
Pat Sexton, President of the Lemont Park District Board, presented an update of current Park District
activities and accomplishments. Anew marketing director has been hired. The new fitness and aquatic
center construction is proceeding ahead of schedule and under budget. Mr. Sexton thanked Lemont staff for
their cooperation on the project. Jaycee Park on Glenys Drive will be closed due to ADA concerns. The
parking area and other amenities at Northview Park on McCarthy Road will begin soon.
Ben Wehmeier gave an update of road construction projects. New Avenue and 127`'' Street
resurfacing began August 24. The second phase of the bridge resurfacing is due to begin on September 14.
Work will take place beginning August 26 on the Illinois/State intersection and should be completed before
Labor Day.

Ordinance 0-58-09 -Ordinance Designating Certain Property as a Landmark: 42 Stephen
Street, U.S. Post Office.
Motion by Stapleton, seconded by Chialdikas, to adopt said ordinance. Roll call: Blatzer,
Chialdikas, Miklos, Sniegowski, Stapleton, Virgilio; ayes. Motion passed.
Ordinance 0-59-09 -Ordinance Designating Certain Property as a Landmark: 504 Singer
Avenue -Single Family Residence.
Miklos, Sniegowski, Stapleton, Virgilio; ayes. Motion passed.
0-60-09 -Ordinance Authorizing Execution of Local Government Compliance Ordinance for
Underground Improvements on Talcott Street.
Motion by Miklos, seconded by Blatzer, to adopt said ordinance. Roll call: Blatzer, Miklos,
Sniegowski, Stapleton, Virgilio; ayes. Chialdikas, no. Motion passed.
RESOLUTIONS
Resolution R-50-09 -Resolution Accepting Low Bid for K.A. Steel Road Resurfacing - Pruyne
Street Cutoff to Railroad Spur. Motion by Blatzer, seconded by V irgilio, to adopt said resolution.
Roll call: Blatzer, Chialdikas, Miklos, Sniegowski, Stapleton, Virgilio; ayes. Motion passed.

Police Chief Shaughnessy reported that radar has been running on 127`h Street, McCarthy Road,
and Julia Street with the start of school. A roadside checkpoint will take place on Friday
and Saturday nights for alcohol and seat belt compliance.
Students are urged to park in the Lemont High School garage and lots and avoid the
residential areas.
The final cruise night of the summer will be held on August 26 featuring squad cars from
area municipalities.

There being no further business, a motion was made by Blatzer, seconded by Stapleton, to adjourn
the meeting at 8:05 p.m. Voice vote: 6 ayes. Motion passed.
