A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE 1 -355 AREA TRAILS MASTER PLAN
(I -355 Trails Plan)
WHEREAS, Homer Glen, New Lenox, Lemont, Will County & Lockport recently formed
the 1 -355 Corridor Planning Consortium (CPC); and
WHEREAS, one the goals of the 1 -355 CPC is to work together to tie in our local Bike &
Pedestrian Plans so that we may develop a more integrated regional system; and
WHEREAS, regional trail planning will require a close coordination of real estate market
strategy, land use planning and regulation, and transportation planning; and
WHEREAS, certain extensions and connections to regional and local trails have been
planned or developed by various municipalities, park districts, counties, and forest preserve
districts, but no coordinated plan has been designed or agreed upon to provide local connections
and continuity throughout the system; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the "I -355 Area Trails Master Plan" is to provide a framework
that allows governmental, not - for - profit, and private partners to achieve a more coordinated
development of trails prior to, or in conjunction with, new development as it occurs in our
communities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Lemont that, when considering development proposals, requests for access, capital
improvement projects, approval of annexation agreements, and other community planning
initiatives, the Village will consider the I -355 Area Trails Master Plan as guidance, and work with
and coordinate with the County, neighboring municipalities and other agencies, to the extent
possible and appropriate, in determining appropriate improvements and actions needed to improve
the local and regional trail network.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF LEMONT, COUNTIES OF COOK, WILL, AND DuPAGE, ILLINOIS, on this 22nd
day of June, 2009.
