RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A STUDY WITH REGARD TO THE CREATION OF
PROPERTY TAX INCREMENT ALLOCATION REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT
AND PLAN WITHIN THE VILLAGE OF LEMONT
BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Lemont,
Cook County, Illinois, as follows:
SECTION 1: It is found and declared by the President and Board of Trustees of
the Village of Lemont, Cook County, Illinois (the "Village ") as follows:
(a) The Village has the power, pursuant to the Illinois Real Property Tax
Increment Allocation Redevelopment Act, to create redevelopment plans for
blighted areas and conversation areas in the Village and, pursuant to such
plans, to finance and perform redevelopment activities for such areas
pursuant to the Act and the Constitution of the State of Illinois.
(b) It is in the best interest of the Village to consider the creation of a
redevelopment project and plan for the downtown area of the Village. Such
area is generally bounded as follows:
Boundary North: Chicago Sanitary Ship Canal.
Boundary South: All property fronting on Illinois Street.
Boundary West: Timberline Drive.
Boundary East: Brady Street
SECTION 2: The Village shall proceed to consider creation of a Redevelopment
Plan for the Redevelopment Project Area. The officers and staff of the Village and their
consultants or other parities are authorized to gather information and opinions on behalf
of the Village regarding the necessity, desirability and feasibility of creating a
redevelopment plan for the Redevelopment Plan Area, and to prepare a draft
redevelopment plan for further consideration by the President and Board of Trustees.
SECTION 3: Any action by the Village to create or implement any Redevelopment
Project and Plan shall be taken only by ordinances to be adopted by the President and
Board of Trustees.
