TORNADO RELIEF RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Village of Lemont, was the victim of a devastating tornado that
occurred on March 27, 1991; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois has declared the Village of Lemont as a tornado
disaster area; and
WHEREAS, many residents of the Village of Lemont have suffered substantial
property damage and emotional stress not only with experiencing the tornado, but dealing
with the aftermath of rebuilding; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Lemont is desirous of assisting tornado victims in
connection with rebuilding their homes and minimizing the emotional stress and financial
burden the residents have experienced.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES that the Building Inspector and the Zoning Administrator are hereby directed
to waive any and all fees in connection with the reconstruction of any tornado damage
victims and to expedite the permitting process to allow reconstruction of similar type uses
that may have existed prior to the tornado and to further waive any variations, set -back
requirements or any other zoning restrictions that may prevent the replacement of a similar
type structure.
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the Village staff and its employees facilitate and
promptly issue all necessary permits consistent with this Resolution and authorize the
Mayor to hear any administrative appeals from the Building or Zoning Commissioners.
