RESOLUTION l
RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT
OF TRANSPORTATION TO CONDUCT A TRAFFIC STUDY
ON STATE ROUTE 171 (ARCHER AVENUE) FROM ROUTE
83 TO 135TH STREET
WHEREAS, Land development within the Village of Lemont and
surrounding areas has occurred at a rapid pace during the last
decade; and
WHEREAS, Growth in population and employment has resulted
in a significant increase in traffic volume and traffic accidents
on State Route 171; and
WHEREAS, Accidents involving fatalities and injuries are
increasing on this Highway with the probability that further
growth in the area will result in additional accidents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board
of Trustees that the Village of Lemont requests the Illinois
Department of Transportation to conduct a traffic study on State
Route 171 (Archer Avenue) from Route 83 to 135th Street.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Village seeks consideration
of a speed limit reduction, signalized intersections at critical
roadway junctions, and other traffic safety improvements which
may be warranted.
