RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION APPROVING TRANSFER OF ANNIVERSARY BOOK PROJECT
TO LEMONT AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY
AFTER DATE OF PROJECT CLOSURE
WHEREAS, in January, 1997, the Mayor and Village Board gave approval for the Village
of Lemont to underwrite the cost of producing an Anniversary Book in conjunction with the 150th
Anniversary of the I & M Canal and the 125th Anniversary of the incorporation of the Village of
Lemont; and
WHEREAS, in July, 1998, 5,000 copies of Lemont, 125th Anniversary Edition, at a total
cost of 548,276 , were received by the Anniversary Book Committee and forwarded to the Village
of Lemont; and
WHEREAS, this amount in addition to related project expenses has been underwritten by
the Village of Lemont; and
WHEREAS, through sale of page sponsorships, patron ads and books, the Anniversary Book
Committee has partially reimbursed the Village of Lemont; and
WHEREAS, the Anniversary Book Committee will continue to supervise the sale of books
until such time as the entire cost of the project is reimbursed to the Village of Lemont; and
WHEREAS, after complete reimbursement of monies advanced for the Anniversary Book
project to the Village of Lemont, the Anniversary Book Committee will set a date of project closure.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT following the date of project closure,
any remaining Anniversary Books will become the property of the Lemont Area Historical Society,
and any profits generated from the sale of said books will also become the property of the Lemont
Area Historical Society.
