A RESOULTION AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE
ADMINISTRATOR TO APPOINT -FOIA AND OPEN MEETING-
OFFICERS
WHEREAS, In 2009, the Attorney General worked with legislators and open government
advocates to draft and pass legislation, Senate Bill 189, Public Act 096 -0542, to strengthen the
Freedom of Information Act and the Open Meetings Act to increase the transparency and
accountability of governments at all levels. The new act is effective January 1, 2010;
WHEREAS, the act requires municipalities to designate one or more officials or
employees to act as FOIA Officer and Open Meetings Officer; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Village President and Board of Trustees
of the Village of Lemont that the Village Administrator is authorized to appoint one or more
FOIA and Open Meetings Act Officers and take such further actions as may be required to
comply with the Freedom of Information Act and the Open Meetings Act, as amended.
The Village Clerk of the Village of Lemont shall certify to the adoption of this
Ordinance and cause the same to be published in pamphlet form.
