RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR LEMONT'S APPLICATION FOR THE 1998
GREAT AMERICAN MAIN STREET AWARDS
WHEREAS, the Village of Lemont has shown support and dedication for the preservation and
rehabilitation of downtown Lemont over the past five years; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Lemont worked cooperatively with other taxing bodies to create the
downtown TIF district that has provided much of the funding for the many downtown
improvements over the past five years; and
WHEREAS, the downtown community has worked together in partnership to create an
attractive, unique and hospitable downtown district for residents and visitors that represents
Lemont's historic nature and heritage; and
WHEREAS, through the many hardships of construction and improvements, the downtown
community has survived and started to prosper following the creation of the many amenities; and
WHEREAS, the entire downtown community of business owners, employees, volunteers,
residents, local officials, and visitors have shown their interest and dedication in preserving and
improving the heritage of downtown Lemont.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Village Board hereby recognizes the hard
work of all those involved in improving and rehabilitating downtown Lemont, and wholeheartedly
supports Lemont's application for the 1998 Great American Main Street Awards.
