Resolution Authorizing the Application for a hosting a Chicago Area Transportation
Study (CATS) sponsored Walkable Community Workshop
WHEREAS, The provision of safe, pedestrian friendly transportation routes is becoming an essential
element in creating a livable community; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago Area Transportation Study sponsored workshops will aid local governments,
who have jurisdiction over many of the elements that make a community walkable, in their identification of
strategies to improve the pedestrian environment; and
WHEREAS, Hosting a Walkable Community Workshop will impose certain responsibilities on the
Village's staff.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that an application be made to the Chicago Area
Transportation Study for the opportunity to host a Walkable Community Workshop for the purposes of
fostering community interest in the issue and to develop long term strategies to achieve a pedestrian friendly
community.
Section 2. That Christina K. Dudek of the Village of Lemont is hereby authorized and directed to execute
and file on behalf of the Village of Lemont such application.
Section 3. That Christina K. Dudek of the Village of Lemont is authorized to furnish such additional
information as may be required by the Chicago Area Transportation Study in connection with the aforesaid
application for said grant.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF LEMONT, COUNTIES OF COOK, WILL, AND DU PAGE, ILLINOIS, on this 11t
day of June 2001.
