RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CREATION OF THE
CHICAGO SOUTHLAND RIVER CORRIDOR COUNCIL
WHEREAS, the south/southwest suburban region recognizes the regional asset the river system is;
and
WHEREAS, the enhancement of this amenity is vital to encourage tourism and economic
development through new commercial and residential opportunities, as well as preserving jobs and providing
additional recreational and open space opportunities; and
WHEREAS, the communities located on the river, as well as those in its environs recognize the need
for a regional asset to enhance the image of the Chicago Southland, to preserve a high quality of industrial
employment and to enhance the quality of life for the area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village
of Lemont as follows:
1. The Village of Lemont hereby affirms the findings in the preamble above and further
endorses the creation of the Chicago Southland River Corridor Council.
2. The Village of Lemont further resolves to fully participate as a member of the Council to
meet the objectives outlined above.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF LEMONT, COUNTIES OF COOK, WILL AND DU PAGE, ILLINOIS on this 23rd
day of August , 2004.
