A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE
NATIONAL INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
WHEREAS, Emergency Response to critical incidents, whether natural or manmade, requires
integrated professional management, and
WHEREAS, Unified Command of such incidents is recognized as the management model to
maximize the public safety response, and
WHEREAS, The National Incident Management System, herein referred to as NIMS, has been
identified by the Federal Government as being the requisite emergency management system for all political
subdivisions, and
WHEREAS, Failure to adopt NIMS as the requisite emergency management system may preclude
reimbursement to the political subdivision for costs expended during and after a declared emergency or
disaster and for training and preparation for such disasters or emergencies.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND MEMBERS OF THE
BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF LEMONT, COOK, WILL & DU PAGE COUNTIES,
ILLINOIS that:
Section 1: Incorporation of Recitals: The foregoing recitals are hereby expressly incorporated into and
made a part of this Resolution as if fully set forth herein.
Section 2: Adoption: It shall be the public policy of the Village of Lemont to adopt the NIMS concept of
emergency planning and unified command. It shall further be the policy of the Village of
Lemont to train public officials responsible for emergency management.
Section 3: Conflicts- All prior Resolutions and Resolutions, or parts thereof in conflict or inconsistent with
this Resolution are hereby expressly repealed only to the extent of such conflict or
inconsistency.
Section 4: Repealers: All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict with any of the provisions of
this Resolution shall be, and the same are hereby repealed.
Section 5: Effective Date: This Resolution shall become effective upon passage, approval and publication,
in Book and Pamphlet form as provided by law.
